Elisa Bertino is professor of computer science at Purdue University, and serves as Director of Purdue Cyber Center and Research Director of the Center for Information and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS). Prior to joining Purdue in 2004, she was a professor and department head at the Department of Computer Science and Communication of the University of Milan. She has been a visiting researcher at the IBM Research Laboratory (now Almaden) in San Jose, at the Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation, at Rutgers University, at Telcordia Technologies. Her recent research focuses on database security, digital identity management, policy systems, and security for web services. She is a Fellow of ACM and of IEEE. She received the IEEE Computer Society 2002 Technical Achievement Award and the IEEE Computer Society 2005 Kanai Award. She a member of the editorial board of IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing, and IEEE Security & Privacy. She is currently serving as chair of the ACM Special Interest Group on Security, Audit and Control (ACM SIGSAC).

Symantec Research Labs

Marc Dacier, Ph.D., is a Senior Director within Symantec Research Labs. He is in charge of 3 teams located in Herndon (VA, USA), Dublin (Ireland) and Sophia Antipolis (France). These team collaborate on joint projects with external government agencies, universities and businesses that include both long-term studies and short range improvements that provide immediate benefit to Symantec customers across all business segments and markets.

Prior to joining Symantec, Dr. Dacier taught networking and operational computing security at Eurecom, a graduate school and research centre in communications systems and one of Europe's most active academic research institutions, especially in the field of network and computer security. In addition to his extensive work in academia, Dr. Dacier was the manager of the Global Security Analysis Lab at IBM Research in Zurich (Switzerland) for 7 years.

An internationally recognized expert in computer and network security, Dr. Dacier has served on more than 100 program committees of major security and dependability conferences and as a member of the editorial board of several technical journals. He has co authored more than 60 papers in peer reviewed conferences and journals. He serves on the advisory boards of several universities, in Europe, in the Middle East as well as in the United States. He also sits on the industrial advisory boards of a couple of European funded research projects. Dr. Dacier holds a masters degree in Computer Sciences from the Université Catholique de Louvain and a Ph.D. In Computer Sciences from the Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse.

Carmen Ruiz Vicente is a member of Google's privacy analysis engineering team, which is responsible for delivering and promoting tools, processes, culture and infrastructure to build privacy-robust innovative products and services. She focuses on research and development on the topic of location privacy in location-based internet services.

Prior to joining Google this year, she was a post-doctoral researcher at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Spain). Throughout her academic career she collaborated with research groups at Purdue University (US), University of Athens (Greece) and Università degli Studi di Milano (Italy).

Carmen completed her Ph.D. at the Center for Data Intensive Systems (Daisy) in Aalborg University, Denmark.

IBM CAS Research / University of Ottawa

Dr. Iosif Viorel (Vio) Onut is currently affiliated with Security Systems at IBM and Center for Advanced Studies Research at IBM. He also is Adjunct Professor at University of Ottawa. He completed his PhD degree at the Faculty of Computer Science, University of New Brunswick and specializes in topics related to network security, such as simulation, detection, prediction, and visualization of network attacks, and in-depth study of network features for attack detection. Currently, his main research focus is in the area of Web 2.0 application security, compliance and crawling.

Throughout his career, he was part of many Research and Development collaborations with institutions such as: DaimlerChrysler AG Research and Technology center in Berlin, Germany; National Research Council of Canada, Institute for Information Technology, Fredericton, Canada; Q1Labs, Boston, US; and recently IBM Center for Advanced Studies Research, Ottawa, Canada. He authored more than 40 patents, journals, conference publications and technical reports at prestigious interantinal journals and conferences.
